My first experience with Precision Auto was about three years ago when my Honda broke its timing belt in the middle of the night and I needed to find a place ASAP to repair my car. After hopping on Yelp and finding Precision I called them up and they agreed to take a look at my motor (Hopefully it wasn't toast) and replace the timing belt and water pump. Within two days I had my car back and was on the road. It wasn't until later that I realized that ~$800 was too much to pay for this kind of a repair job. A year later my A/C went out, I took my Honda in to them and they charged me around $100 to fill my lines back up with some special dye refrigerant and told me to come back if it stopped working again so they could take a look at it. I had figured that the $100 would have gone towards 'looking at it' but when the A/C did stop working again they wanted to charge me a couple hundred dollars to fix it. I took my car back and upon further inspection (Just a couple months back actually, I haven't had A/C for years) found that a hose had just come loose and needed to be put back on. About a year after that I was trying to remount my transmission back onto my car and was having an issue doing it so I called up Precision again to have them take care of it. All that had to be done was the transmission had to get mated back onto the motor - this was another $400. By now, you would have thought if I wasn't pleased with their service I would have stopped going but I got a coupon in the mail to have a check done on my car and tell me all of the things that are wrong with it for around a hundred dollars so I took them up on the coupon and brought my car in again. The diagnostic was pretty lackluster and didn't actually provide me with any information as to what was wrong with my car. I essentially paid $100 to have them change my oil and tell me what the condition of my brakes are. Let me make one thing clear - When I've needed them for something they do good work. The main reason that this review is only two stars is the fact that they charge so much. Things that they missed when I took my car in for diagnostics: - Rear main seal is leaking oil which in turn ruined my new clutch - Struts on car are shot, springs also need to be replaced. - Muffler has a hole in it causing it to rattle at specific RPMs - A/C hose line loose At the time of this review I have since moved away from Pleasanton, so I don't think it'll ever be convenient to take my car back to Precision, and to be honest I think that's probably for the best. Review in a sentence: Precision does great work, but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg to get simple things done to your car.
